Omand Park Location

The location that we call Omand’s Creek Park is more correctly called Omand Park, in the area of Winnipeg called Halter Park. It is located just West of Raglan Road between Portage and Wolseley Avenues. We meet at the north side of the baseball field.

Click here for a mapOmand Park

Parking can be found along Raglan Road or, more conveniently, in the parking lot of Portage Avenue Church. Park close to Portage Avenue and bike along the sidewalk West along Portage Avenue to the park.

A Google search for Omand’s Creek gives you a different location.

See you all Tuesday.

First Ride Tomorrow!

We will meet at the CMU Library and Folio Cafe on Grant Avenue.  If the weather is bad we can meet inside the building.

A map to the location is here: https://binged.it/2nWEuRM

The evening will include:

  •  Checking licenses (you will need to bring your license with you or a photo copy of it)
  • If you have not received your license(s) it is probably because you did not send in a hard copy waiver form.
  • Introduction of the coaches.
  • Doing a bike check (making sure your child fits their bike properly and that the gears and brakes are working)
  • Helmet Check (adjusting kids helmets/teaching them to fit their helmets correctly on their heads)
  • T-shirt distribution
  • Getting into preliminary groupings and going for a short ride

This ride will begin to help the coaches assess the abilities of the kids in each group.  As the season progresses and our riders improve and are riding more challenging terrain, the coaches will move around the kids from group to group, trying to create groups that are similar in skill and speed.  This will create the most fun for everyone.

Please make sure your child knows they may be moved around, to work with other coaches, throughout the season.  If you have questions about this please ask.

2017 Schedule is now posted

This is a schedule of what we’ll be doing over the weeks ahead. As Mother Nature does her thing, we may need to cancel, relocate, or reschedule rides accordingly.

We will do our best to communicate changes to the schedule, but you are encouraged to check this page often.

All rides start at 6:30 PM and end at 8:00 PM.

2017 Registration is now closed.

Registration is now closed.

Thanks to all those who registered for the Wolseley Wheels 2017 season.  We are excited for the snow to be gone and the trails to be clear!  Our ride schedule will be posted on this site in the next coming weeks.

Please remember to have your kids bikes ready to go for riding.  If their bikes are dirty or something is not working well, this can be very discouraging for your child as they are learning to ride on the different terrains we will be on.

If you have questions, please let me know.

Our sponsoring bike shop is Olympia Cycle and Ski on Portage Avenue. They will be very happy to serve you.  Just tell them you are from Wolseley Wheels!

See you in the Spring!

Final Week Details

We will meet at CMU tomorrow and ride the Assinboine Forest and Harte Trails.  Unfortunately Beaudry Park is full of mosquitoes and this will make the ride unpleasant for everyone.

We will meet at our regular time (6:30) in Assiniboine Park (site 3 – linked here).  Pizza and Drinks will be provided.  We will not be going for a ride but kids often still bring their bikes to ride around the site.  Feel free to do whatever makes sense for your family.
Please bring a salad or dessert to contribute to the meal.
ALLERGY ALERT:  One of our riders has an anaphylactic allergy to fish and shellfish. Please do not bring anything that contains or may contain either of these things.  Thanks!

Final 2 Weeks

Hey Eveyone!

The season has flown by and we have had so much fun thanks to all your wonderful kids!

This week will we be at BHP (BurOak) on Tuesday and CMU on Thursday to learn about cyclocross racing.

The final week we are at Beaudry Park on Tuesday and we’ll have our wind up at Assiniboine Park.  This is a change from the original schedule. See revised schedule with site map.  We have reserved site 3.

Everyone will be asked to bring a salad or dessert for the windup.  We will be ordering pizza again this year.  If you or anyone in your family has any food allergies, please let us know.
