2021 Registration is Open

Registration for the 2021 season is open! We are looking for coaches! If you are interested in helping out please contact me. While our season may look different this year, I am hopeful that we will be able to run our club in some capacity. Registration will look a little different this year. No payment will be collected at this time. Payments will be made closer to the start of the season- when we have more information about public health orders. A Manitoba cycling association license will need to be purchased prior to the start- that will also be done later. This year the fee for WW is $60 and MCA licenses are between $60-80 depending on if your child wants to race or not.

Wolseley Wheels Postponed Until June 2nd

April 9th, 2020

In light of the previous post (please read that as well) we would like to provide more information to registered families regarding the tentative plans for our club specifically. Wolseley Wheels has taken the decision to postpone the start of the season until June 2nd. It is our intention to offer a shortened 5 week season ending July 2nd.

Like everyone else we are taking things day by day and of course beginning the season in June may also become impossible. We will assess the situation again in the first and second week of May and communicate to you again at that time.

Thank you for understanding the uncertain circumstances,

Graham Wiebe

COVID-19 Update from MCA

March 17, 2020

Hello to all MCA members,

The Manitoba Cycling Association has been closely monitoring provincial, federal and global health agencies, in addition to conferring with our national and local partners with respect to best practices related to the rapidly changing coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The health and safety of our members and staff is our highest priority.

To be mindful of the public’s health, and to do our part to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of COVID-19, the following courses of action will be implemented effective immediately until further notice. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and post updates as we have them.

  • The Sport for Life Centre has suspended all training at the facility
  • The Sport for Life Centre has cancelled all current meetings and has suspended access to all meeting rooms until further notice
  • Provincial team training will be completed at home until further notice
  • First Aid training courses at the Sport for Life centre have been postponed for March and will be re-scheduled to a future date
  • MCA sanctioned races will be reviewed and postponed as necessary. We will work diligently and collaboratively with our organizers to reschedule as many of our planned events as possible. Race Calendar link: http://mbcycling.ca/events/
  • Multi-Sport cycling clinics on April 21, April 28, and May 5 will be postponed and possibly cancelled.
  • Sanctioned club rides and activities (including Kids of Mud program) will be postponed until further notice.

The decision to postpone events and programming has been very difficult but has become necessary.

We will continue to monitor the situation and post updates to the Manitoba Cycling Association website (mbcycling.ca).

Please continue to follow recommended personal hygiene practices:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Cover both your nose and mouth when coughing. Try to cough or sneeze into your arm, away from others, or into tissue paper (to be disposed in toilet). Wash your hands immediately afterwards.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness.
  • Face masks are most effective in preventing transmission when worn by the person who is ill.

We want to hear from you! Wolseley to Downtown Walk Bike Project

Good morning,

The City of Winnipeg wants to hear from you! The City of Winnipeg is looking for ways to improve travel choices, accessibility and connectivity from Wolseley to Downtown. The proposed corridor would provide improved connections to the Omand’s Creek pathway, Assiniboine Avenue, Sherbrook Street protected bike lanes, Maryland Street bike lane, and the planned neighbourhood greenway on Ruby Street. The study area runs east-west through Wolseley Avenue/Westminster Avenue, Balmoral Street, and Granite Way.

We are looking for your perspectives on preliminary design options and treatments. Preliminary design options have taken Phase 1 stakeholder priorities into consideration including safety, bike network connections, and cycling comfort.
